What is Being Made

This is a top-down raglan style jumper designed specifically to fit 32cm Miniland Dolls or any doll with a chest circumference of 20cm, arm length of 11cm, and torso length of 12cm. The sweater features a relaxed fit that makes it easy for children to dress and undress their dolls, and it requires minimal seaming—only under the arms—making it an efficient project to construct.

Knitting Techniques

The sweater is knitted in the round, which creates a seamless fabric and allows for continuous circular knitting. The top-down raglan construction method begins at the neckline and increases outward toward the body and sleeves, making it easy to try on the doll as you work and adjust the fit. This technique eliminates the need for complex seaming and provides a professional finish with minimal finishing work required.

Stitches Used

• Stockinette stitch – The primary stitch throughout the sweater, created by knitting all stitches in the round
• Make-1 right (m1r) – An increase stitch used for shaping the raglan decreases, created by inserting the left needle from back to front under the bar between stitches and knitting into the front loop

Materials and Tools

This intermediate-level project requires 40 grams of DK weight yarn, totaling approximately 80 metres or 87 yards. The pattern specifies Bendigo Woollen Mills Luxury 8ply yarn, though any DK weight yarn of similar yardage will work. Needles required include 4.5mm double-pointed needles (DPNs) for the main knitting and 4.0mm DPNs for ribbing or cuff sections. Additional notions include stitch markers for tracking raglan increases and the beginning of round, and waste yarn or a small flexible stitch holder for securing stitches during construction.

Gauge and Sizing
