Produktdetails

The inspiration for this design came from driving past ploughed fields. The rows of furrows reminded me of rows of garter stitch, and when I saw the wheat-ear cable I knew I had to put those rows of wheat into the ploughed field!

As written, the pattern makes a small shawl. It can be worn bandana-style, or wrap it around your shoulders and fasten at the front with your favourite brooch or pin. The asymmetrical shape avoids the problem of having the triangle point right at your behind! For the more confident knitter, pattern notes explain briefly how to make the shawl bigger if you have extra yarn available.

After blocking, the finished shawlette measures 16.5” high at the deepest point and 36.5” across the top edge. Pattern gauge is 21 sts and 40 rows to 4” over garter stitch. Achieving pattern gauge is not vital but may affect the finished size and the yardage required. As well as the yarn and needles, you will also need a cable needle (or to cable without one) and 12 stitch markers.

The pattern contains fully written instructions only (no charts).

You will need to be able to: work basic increases and decreases, work cables (with or without a cable needle), work from written instructions
