Memories in Colour

I went for a family day out to Westonbirt Arboretum on a gloriously sunny autumn day. The trees were a mix of blazing reds, plums, oranges and yellows set against a backdrop of a myriad of greens and blue-greens of the spruce and evergreens. I wanted to create a shawl that captured the beautiful colours of that day.

You can use any colours for your shawl..create your own memory of a special day in colour, a beautiful sunset, the stunning gradients of a turquoise sea, the possibilities are endless

The shawl is worked from the tip to the broad edge using a base colour and then a set of eight colours. The pattern has one (optional) row of short rows just before the start of the patterned section. This single row helps the ripple in the pattern really stand out, but if you don’t want to knit short rows there are instructions for omitting it.

The size of the shawl can be adjusted by working more or less coloured sections as desired.
