The Traveler Slouchy

The Traveler Slouchy was inspired by a recent trip to Mexico, which was my very first vacation in at least two and half years. The different directions of the stitches between the brim and the body of the hat represent travel to me, and this hat can be worn anywhere your travels take you - believe me, it is so comfortable, you will want to wear this hat everywhere!

The Traveler Slouchy is designed with bulky weight yarn. I used Malabrigo Mecha, but any bulky yarn of your choice can be used instead. This hat is crocheted from the bottom up in the round using half double crochet through the back loop only (HDCBLO) starting with a ribbed stitch and then increasing in the first round of the body slightly - this gives a better fit. Half double crochet through the back loop only is continued all the way to the top, including the decreases. The ribbing should be snug but stretchy. The hat will have a slouchy look, hence the name.
