Product Details
Dither is an incredibly long, and therefore wonderfully comfortable scarf, worked in the double-knitting technique, creating a warm and thick, snuggly fabric that will really keep the winter blues away.
Perfect for the maths geek in your life, or the graphic design enthusiast, Dither is the perfect union of knit-nerdery and computer-nerdery in one squishy package.
In graphic design, a dither pattern is a computer-generated, false gradient that uses different concentrations of light and dark pixels to give the illusion of one colour fading smoothly into another, while only using pixels that are either one or the other. In the case of my dither scarf, using just black and white yarns, the scarf fades from white at one end, to black at the other, and the joy of it is that every section of the design shows up as interesting and intricate miniature patterns that are lots of fun on their own, and utterly beautiful as a whole.
