The tunic is made by working granny squares, joined together to form a yoke, then a series of trebles in rounds, with 6 coloured treble rounds and puff stitch border to finish hem and cuffs. The tunic can be made in half sleeve or ¾ sleeve, or full sleeve in child sizes.
For the child sizes, the instructions work for both 4ply and DK yarn, as you are working until you reach a given size, rather than stitch count. Quantities for 4ply and Dk yarns are given separately above, and a 4ply garment will be much lighter weight than DK (this isn’t recommended for the adult sizes). You could create any granny square design you wish - this pattern includes instructions for a flat “sunflower” design and raised basic flower.
