This design was inspired by a wonderful afternoon with my daughter, watching the live action movie of 'Cinderella'. As we watched the film a second and then a thrid time, a new design began to form within my mind. Every element of this elegant pair of socks would reflect the moments in the story of Cinderella that made our hearts sing.
They begin with the ribbing that reflects the two different lives of Cinderella. Travelling down the leg and foot of the sock are butterflies, just like the ones on Cinderella's stunning ballgown. The French Heel represents the trip her father took, and the gift that he brought her back. Finally, the Cottage Toe signifies the beautiful home where she grew up.
This wonderful pattern came to me in a moment of magic, shared with my daughter. Now, I would love for you to share in that same magic when you knit your own 'Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo socks'.
The socks are knit using fingering weight yarn, and a tonal/ lightly speckled yarn would suit the design the best.
