Détails du produit

Whilst our Bronze Age ancestors didn't knit, they did have a keen eye for design and detail. This cozy modern capelet is inspired by the early Bronze Age archaeological masterpiece known as the Mold Cape, a beaten gold ornament dated to c1900-1600 BC richly decorated with textures and shapes thought to be influenced by beadwork and textile drapery.

The capelet is started with two side triangles which are knitted flat. The sides of these are picked up and the body of the capelet worked in the round from the base up. Once the body is completed, the cast on edges are picked up and a lower border is knitted on, beads may optionally be added to this section.

The pattern is sized for an average adult female fit, laid flat the unstretched lower edge measures c48 inch/122cm in circumference. Larger or smaller sizes may be achieved by casting on a few more or less stitches when connecting the two side triangles.
