The fourth design in the "British Inventors and Scientists" collection is a tribute to Ada Lovelace (1815-1852). Mathematician and writer, she is regarded as the first "computer programmer" .
These socks have a twist: each sock is the result of the coding of a date. You may knit identical socks by using the same date for each sock. Or you may knit fraternal socks, with each sock embedding a different date.
Depending on which quarter the chosen date falls into, the sock features a different lace pattern. The other details (which month in that quarter, the day, the year) are coded with texture.
And I remain with this question: was Ada Lovelace a knitter?
