What is Being Made

Miracoli is an intermediate-level knitted shawl designed by Nim Teasdale and named after the Pont dei Miracoli in Venice, where the shawl was photographed. This design is a redesign of The Peacock's Tale, reimagined as a deeper crescent shawl that showcases an expanding wedge structure. The finished shawl measures approximately 130x65cm (52x26 inches) and is suitable for a range of yarn weights and yardage amounts, making it an adaptable project for knitters seeking a versatile accessory.

Techniques Used

The Miracoli shawl employs an expanding wedge construction, a classic technique for creating crescent-shaped shawls with graduated increases. The pattern is designed with flexibility in mind, allowing knitters to customize their finished piece based on available yarn and desired dimensions. The design incorporates charted lace sections that can be modified through repetition or omission of individual feather motifs.
