That Macrame Sock is a stretchy ribbing-like sock with some mock cables. While the ribbings align lovely along the feet, the crossings around the ankles create a macrame-like shape as if the ribbing ropes were hang on top.
The heel gusset creates room for a high and pretty stretchy instep compare with some of the common heels. An additional version of this heel is also added for people who has a very high instep / foot arch yet a thinner leg and ankle, which switches the stitch count from a 8ˮ leg into a 9ˮ feet, while most manʼs or ballerinaʼs feet would suffer from this case and be difficult to make well fitting socks.
Note that all the crosses in the pattern are designed to be totally symmetric in both socks, so thereʼs a slightly difference when it comes to the pattern in Left and Right foot.

The pattern has been thoroughly test knitted.
