Vesa

The Vesa shawl is knit with an unexpected construction. First the top border is worked as a long strip. Stitches are then picked up along one long edge and split into three sections: the right side, center spine, and left side. The center spine is then worked out. Once complete, stitches are picked up along one edge of the spine and the right side stitches are placed back on the needle. A stockinette stitch and lace section is worked back and forth out to the center panel edge. Once complete, the same technique is worked on the left side. Finally, all live stitches are placed back onto the needle and the bottom edging is worked to finish the shawl.
