We teased the idea of launching a brand-new service - one where we’d finish your WIPs for you. We’re talking weaving in your ends, seaming your sweater, maybe even blocking your granny square blanket for you. Dreamy, right?

But while we’re not quite there (yet), there is a real organisation doing something even more powerful and we think every maker should know about them.

Meet Loose Ends

Loose Ends is a non-profit connecting volunteer makers with unfinished knitting, crochet, and textile projects left behind by loved ones who’ve passed away, or who can no longer finish them due to illness or disability.

They step in during moments of grief to help complete meaningful handmade items and return them to their intended recipients. Whether it’s a half-finished baby blanket or a pair of socks that never made it past the heel, Loose Ends helps carry those final stitches over the finish line.

How you can help

Loose Ends runs entirely on generosity - through the time and talent of volunteer finishers, and through donations that help sustain their efforts. If their mission speaks to your maker’s heart, there are a few ways to get involved:

  • Volunteer to help finish projects
  • Donate to support their work
  • Share their story to help spread the word

Every stitch helps carry a story forward.

Crafting connects us across generations, distances, and even grief. We’re so inspired by the work Loose Ends does, and we hope you are too.
