Crochet candelabra cactus, 4 complete pieces

Make 3 more of these pieces making sure to leave a 10 inch tail on one of the pieces for sewing later.

7

step 7

Sewing pieces. Using your darning needle and the 10 inch yarn tail, pass yarn through the tops, centers and bottom edges of all 4 pieces and fasten firmly.

Adding spikes.

  1. Cut 2” pieces of fingering weight yarn. Place your yarn in bundles for each of your spikes, I used 2 strands of yarn for each spike.

  2. Take one of your bundles of yarn and fold it in half lengthwise. Insert your hook through one of the scs along the edge.

  3. Grab your loop of yarn with your hook then pull the loop through the piece.

  4. Lift the loop and pull the ends of your yarn through it, making a spike for your crochet cactus. Pull the loop tight to make sure your spike is snug and secure.

  5. Continue attaching spikes on every other sc along the edges of all sides.

  6. Once you’re done with all 4 sides, trim down the spikes. Don’t trim them too close as they might come undone.

Finishing.

I half filled my pot with beads, put the cactus in and filled it the rest of the way.

The crochet candelabra cactus is just so fun to make. Apart from all the uses listed above, it adds a great touch on your desktop or in a nook in your home. It would also work really well in a bathroom that could use a green touch.
