How to knit linen stitch

What is linen stitch?
Linen stitch combines knit stitch, purl stitch and slipped stitches to create a beautiful woven look. It's similar to moss stitch, but with the extra step of slipping stitches! Unlike stocking stitch (or stockinette) it doesn’t curl up at the edges, making it great for washcloths, scarves and cowls.

How to linen stitch, step by step
1
Cast on an even number of stitches.

Row 1 (right side): knit 1, slip 1 with the yarn in front. Repeat this to the end of the row

Row 2 (wrong side): Purl 1, slip 1 with the yarn behind. Repeat this to the end of the row.
4
Repeat rows 1 and 2.
