Sewing events in Autumn & Winter 2018

One of the best things about those long evenings that come with Autumn and Winter, is that you no longer need an excuse to stay inside with your sewing machine. Forget having to go out and enjoy the sunshine, now you can get tucked up with your patterns, fabrics and threads without having to make excuses to anyone. If you do fancy getting out and about to stretch your legs though here’s our guide to some of the UK’s Autumn and Winter sewing events.
Frida Kahlo: Making Herself Up
16 June - 4th November, V&A Museum, London
While not technically a sewing exhibition, this is a rare opportunity to get up close and personal with the inspiring icon that is Frida Kahlo. The exhibition includes personal items and clothing belonging to the Mexican artist that hasn’t been seen for 50 years. While you’re at the V&A you can always go and have a look at their amazing collection of textiles, costume and tapestries, so there’s plenty to inspire every type of sewing enthusiast.
Autumn Quilt Festival
19 October - 21 October, Malvern Showground, Worcestershire
This festival has exhibitions and galleries of work from international textile artists, workshops, and demonstrations showing you how to get to grips with all sorts of techniques and a huge variety of exhibitors selling craft and textile supplies.
The Creative Craft Show
25 October - 28 October, SECC, Glasgow
1 November - 4 November, NEC, Birmingham
A show for stitchers, knitters and craft fans, with a wide variety of exhibitors and and sellers, there are also workshops, demonstrations, inspiration and new products being launched.
The Knitting & Stitching Show
8 November - 11 November, RDS, Dublin
A four day show of workshops, fabric stalls and craft suppliers, the Knitting & Stitching show also has exhibitions showcasing the works of leading textile artists. With heaps of inspiration and every craft supply you could think of, it’s a brilliant day out.

15 - 17 November, ExCel, London
Stitching, sewing and hobbycrafts, this is a show that does exactly what it says! Stalls, exhibitions, workshops and demonstrations in all your favourite sewing crafts.
The Knitting & Stitching Show
22 November - 25 November, Harrogate International Centre, Harrogate
Workshops, demonstrations, activities, exhibitions, competitions and all sorts of sellers, with lots to see, do and buy, the Knitting & Stitching show has all sorts to keep you entertained.
