Summer CAL: Motifs 1 to 6

Welcome to part 1 of our summer CAL by Amanda Perkins! In the first section of our Color Wheel Project, we show you how to make motifs 1 through 6 before heading onto part 2!
The steps in this post are written in UK crochet terminology. Download the correct terminology for you from the links in the sidebar.
Abbreviations (UK Terminology)
st - Stitch
ch - Chain
sl st - Slip stitch
dc - Double crochet
tr - Treble crochet
htr - Half treble crochet
dtr - Double treble crochet

Pattern information
Each of the first 5 rounds is in a different color, at the start of each round join your new color in the place indicated with a sl st.
Please note this pattern is written for one side of the square, it starts mid corner and works across the side to the next corner.
Each round starts with a set of ch stitches which are the equivalent of the starting stitch, the set of chains are replaced with their equivalent stitch for subsequent sides.

Small - Make 6
Medium - Make 9

Daffodil Yellow
Foundation ring – Crochet 12 ch and join into a ring using a sl st.
Into the foundation ring – *2 ch (for all 3 of the remaining sides of the square replace with 1 htr), 4 htr, 3 ch, 5 htr, 5 ch*
Repeat * to * 3 more times.
Join to the top of the starting 2 ch with a sl st.
Break yarn and fasten off.

Lime Green
Join into a 5ch corner space – 2 ch (for all 3 of the remaining sides of the square replace with 1 htr), 4 htr, 1 ch.
In next 3 ch space – *1 dc, 2 ch, 1 dc, 1 ch
Into next 5ch corner space – 5 htr, 2 ch*
Repeat * to * 3 more times.
Join to the top of the starting 2 ch with a sl st.
Break yarn and fasten off.

Grass Green
Join into 2 ch corner space, *2 ch (for all 3 of the remaining sides of the square replace with 1 htr), 4 htr
In next 2 ch space – 1 tr, 2 htr, 2ch, 2 htr, 1 tr
Into the next 2 ch corner – 5 htr, 2 ch*
Repeat * to * 3 more times.
Join to the top of the starting 2 ch with a sl st.
Break yarn and fasten off.

Spearmint Green
Join into 2 ch corner space *2 ch (for all 3 of the remaining sides of the square replace with 1 htr)
1 htr, 3 ch, miss 3 spaces between the following sts
In next space – 1 htr
In next space – 1 tr
In next space – 1 htr, 2 ch, miss 1 space
In next 2 ch space, 1 dc, 1 ch, 1 dc, 2 ch, miss 1 space

Join to the top of the starting 4 ch with a sl st.
Break yarn and fasten off.
