    About

Originally I planned to make the animals into a cot mobile but I couldn't get the weight of the animals to balance out so I decided to turn them into a Zoo instead. I made a Zookeeper with a satchel filled with food for the animals (fish, a bone, bananas, carrot) and a few other little accessories (haybale, fences, etc) and gave it as a gift to my Step-Daughter for her 4th Birthday. When her new baby Sister is old enough, the animals at least will be safe to play with.
(I still made the cot mobile for her newborn Sister, but I've added that as a separate project)

    Pattern

    Needles & Hooks

    • Single Point 3.50mm (US 4) 20cm
    • Double Point 3.50mm (US 4) 20cm

    Accessories

    • Stuffing
Other : I want the baby to be able to play with the animals when they are old enough so I am avoiding using buttons, pipe cleaners etc to ensure the animals are safe.

    Measurements

    Various

Notes: For all the animals legs, I thread the yarn into the centre of the foot & back up the leg. By pulling the thread tight, it effectively sucks in the centre of the foot making it flatter, allowing the animal to stand up better.
With the giraffe, zebra,b unicorn and lion, I added paper straws (filled with stuffing) into their legs and in the giraffe's his neck to add strength and stability (paper straws make it safe for baby to play with).

What a great idea, and your elephant is soo cute. 😊I agree with making toys that babies can play with you have to be so careful.
