Thank you Michelle. If I'm honest I'm mostly pleased with the hair, first time I've ever made wefts and I think it makes such a difference to the look. All practice in preparation to making an ambitious painted face traditional calico doll 😊.

I saw this on the MJT face book page and I love seeing the extra photos of his clothes. I'm still blown away by his shoes but I love the whole character.

Thank you Christine. MJT page kept taking it down, couldn't figure out why, I only lengthened the arms and legs by a few rows and put a couple of stitches in the hands. So I checked the rules and they said they liked people posting their creations, liked people helping each other and didn't allow self-promotion, nothing applied to my MJT doll. There are people posting dolls that are not MJT dolls, people posting Waldorf dolls, knitable dolls, and dolls so much changed that they look nothing like MJT dolls, also someone advertising themselves using their blog and posting dolls with Waldorf heads. Then I realised it was I was helping people by answering their questions on the patterns I used for the cothes, I was honest and gave name of book I used or admitted I made some up, straight away my doll was removed. So much for helping each other. 😕

@Chris: it's so unfair (for want of a better word!) and unnecessary especial as you say there are obvious ones that have never seen an MJT pattern. I think that's why I like posting on this site as it gives everyone the chance to show their creations without having to be part of the same group

@Chris: He's perfect Chris, so detailed and I love his clothes, especially his shoes. Love to see things posted on here as I won't do Facebook so can't see what's on there. Agree with comments from yourself and Christine R. Everyone on here is pleased to help each other and that's the way it should be - it's not a competition, just friendly banter and advice. I couldn't be without Lovecrafts.😊😊

@Christine R: yes, I just wish they had contacted me with a reason first before taking it down and given me a chance to delete the pattern information I gave someone. I don't think it's the doll itself as it is an MJT body pattern just with a few extra rows on arms and legs to make them longer as I like the raggy doll floppy look. I do like to be creative with the clothes and as I have boys was drawn to making the doll look like a boy, otherwise all of the dolls (depending on the degree of expertise of the knitter) look pretty much the same. At least on here you can give people details of the pattern used. I have an MJT bear and doll knitted ready to be stuffed and sewn up so I think they will be the last and I'm moving on to calico raggy dolls as I'm dying to try out their painted faces. I used to paint years ago and I'd like to mix it with my other crafts. Take care.

@Liz M: exactly. You're not missing much not using FB. I used to teach so I'm naturally inclined to want to help people and pass on information, it's so rewarding when you help someone solve a problem they have with their knitting or motivate them to go to the next level by changing patterns to personalise them or mixing patterns, and I'm not too old to learn a thing or two from other crafters. I love to see the different crafts on Lovecrafts and was pleased when they started selling sewing equipment. Take care.

@Liz M: one of the best things about this site, so much encouragement from everyone on here (apart from Michelle being very rude to an old woman ie me😉) seriously though the support and love you get on here as opposed to other sites is so affirming.

@Chris: Have you seen the Lottie Dolls they're similar in style to Oliver and you'll find them on Ravelry. Lottie is the basic body but there are lots of different clothes and styles for girls and boys. They're all very unusual patterns and similar to raggy dolls the designer is Deena Thomson-Menard.

@Christine R: yes I bought one of the lotty dolls crochet patterns, but they are made with thick chunky, I use dk. So I started to convert the pattern, but the body was an odd shape when scaled down. The pattern wasn't exact enough for me, with instructions such as, you may have a few stitches left over at the end of a round but just crochet them, this caused an uneven round body. So not for me, although I did like the look of some of the dolls, and yes mine is similar to one of the dolls but she doesn't have a pattern for that doll's clothes so I made my own style.

@Chris: I downloaded the Lottie basic body a while ago but I never really noticed it was chunky yarn I just saw the knit in the round and filed it as I prefer flat knitting. I have seen some finished and they do look incredible but very challenging so I don't think they're for me either.

@Christine R: that's why I picked the crochet pattern as I'm not a fan of knitting in the round either. I started a cowl at Christmas in a brioche rib knit in the round and I spend most of the time pushing the stitches around the cord, and unpicking the rib ☺. I had already bought the knitted basic body for the Lotty doll before I realized it was in the round, after reading some of the pattern I didn't think it was explained very well so gave up. I did knit the waistcoat (or vest as she calls it) but it wasn't very exciting, just straight up and down like a gilet so I used another pattern and adapted it to fit my MJT doll. However, I see she has videos out now which takes you through each part of the body, so maybe one day I'll have a go.
