Purr Purr Kitty - Joji

I made this for me

    About

I made this for me as I'd love a silver tabby cat but I'm allergic to cats (and dogs) so he's ideal for me. I used two strands of yarn together throughout as Drops Sky is double knit rather than the recommended Drops Air which is Aran weight. This made a lovely thick fabric and very soft and cuddly kitty and I'm very happy with him. It's also my first time using plastic toy joints - not sure I've got them placed just right but he's fine for me. His name is Joji - it's Japanese for George (my partners name) and I also love all things Japanese.

    Yarns

    • material-yarn
Drops Sky - 04 Steel Grey mix βœ• 0.5 balls
    • material-yarn
Drops Sky - 02 Pearl Grey mix βœ• 4.0 balls

    Needles & Hooks

    • Crochet Hook 3.00mm (US 2.5)

    Accessories

    • Stuffing
    • Stitch Markers
Other : 20mm plastic toy joints for arms and 30mm for legs
12mm Blue cats eyes - all from Celloexpress.co.uk

    Measurements

    about 15 inches

Notes: I added a few more increases to the tummy as I felt he was too thin - probably my tight crochet and using different yarn from recommended one.

Beautiful cat and it must have been a pleasure to make using the Drops Sky. I often use the safety joint for the arm as they can be quite trick to sew on without showing the stitches or stretching the knitting and if I don't want them to actually move I leave out the middle washer which just locks then securely and neatly in place. Well done he's fab πŸ‘

Oh I was just reading your advice to Liz, Christine. I have never used safety joints either but have trouble sewing my arms on as well without seeing the stitches or the arms sitting out too far.How gorgeous is this pussy-cat Liz is one very talented lady.😊😊

@Liz M: I just read Christine's tip, how nice was that Liz.😊I was going to say my wee polushka toys end up a wee bit skinny too so might have to add some increases to the tummy. πŸ’—

What a gorgeous cat, he looks so happy too, just right for sitting on your knee for some cuddles. He is beautifully crocheted and I’d give him a home any day 😊

Thanks Sue - yes he's wonderfully soft. Even though I'm allergic, one of the cats belonging to our neighbour comes for a visit most days. She seems to have decided I'm her "person" and sits and waits at the patio doors to be let in. I give her (and her brother when he turns up) a wee tidbit and she sits on my lap for a nap. I just have to be very careful not to touch my eyes after stroking her or I'm in a state. Well worth it for me as I love cats.πŸ’•

@Liz M: Glad you get some cat company, Liz. πŸ’• My cousin's cats always make a beeline for me! Like you, I daren't touch my eyes and just getting too close makes me cough and wheeze. But I've had dogs all my life and the children, then grandchildren, have had hamsters, rabbits, gerbils etc no problem. So sorry you have a reaction to dogs and cats. Such a shame 😞

I love him Liz and Lucky thinks he is very cool and would like to know when he is coming to visit, she has been fighting with the little raincoat bear and he keeps saying she is very bossy.😊We promise not to lose his passport so he can go home again as we know big George will miss him.lol.😊😊I love his name, so special.
