    About

I followed the instructions for the two-tone version of the sweater but made up the stripe pattern as I went. I love the yarn - it drapes really well and is recycled too. The two-tone instructions in the pattern could be clearer, for instance, it’s not obvious when to change colour if you are making the back longer than the front. It also took me ages to work out the gauge! To begin with it was huge, and I ended up going a whole mm smaller on the hook. I didn’t like the way it looked with this yarn on a larger hook - possibly because it’s cotton and doesn’t have any loft. That meant my gauge did end up a little smaller than it was supposed to be once I got into the flow of the stitch, and I had several attempts to get the right number of stitches for the size I wanted. But overall I’m really pleased with how it came out.

    Yarns

    Needles & Hooks

    • Crochet Hook 4.00mm (US 6)
    • Crochet Hook 4.50mm (US 7)

    Measurements

    35.5”

Notes: I am slim in the body and relatively broad in the shoulders, plus I don’t like the fit to be too baggy. So I sized the sweater between XS and S sizes to give me about 1.5” of ease, but worked a couple of increases between the armpit and the shoulder rows.
