Product Details

A study of angles in beads and lace, showcasing my passion for mathematics. I sometimes compare math with knitting, both lace and equations can be overwhelming at first glimpse. However, once broken down into sections of knits, purls or multiplications, a new world opens up to us that is surprisingly attainable.

Aligning Angles has many straight angles in the motifs but the shawl has extra increases on the borders giving it more of a heart-shape. About 900 beads are required, I like to add them using a tiny crochet hook. The pattern is charted, wrong side rows are all purls.

Purple shawl used 2 skeins BC Garn Silkbloom Extra Fino [55% Merino, 45% Silk, 328yd/300m per 50g] on 3.5 mm (US 4) needles. Blocked size is 127 x 64 x 122 cm (50 x 25 x 48 inches). Gauge: 20 stitches = 10 cm in stockinette.

Pink shawl used 1 skein SweetGeorgia Yarns SeaSilk Lace [60% Plant fiber, 40% Silk 700yd/640m per 115 g] on 3.75mm (US 5) needles. Blocked size is 132 x 69 x 130 cm (52 x 27 x 51 inches). Gauge: 19 stitches = 10 cm in stockinette.
