Product Details

This is a design for a pair of shorter mitts that employs the Alpine method of cabling. It is set apart from the Aran method, primarily because all knitted stitches are knit through the back loop.

The other distinguishing characteristic of an Alpine (rather than Aran) cable, is that it is cabled on both sides of the work, when worked back and forth, which is not the case here, since you are working in the round. However, Alpine cables have a unique look, and are fun to do.

These mitts are not as long as some of mine, and come about 4 inches up your arm from the wrist. The construction of the thumb gusset guarantees a perfect fit, allowing you to text, type, and knit in style and warmth. Since one size fits most, and uses under one skein of heavy fingering weight yarn, they also made the perfect gift.
