Product Details
Aurora Australis is a textural lace scarf with lots of drape. It can also be worn as a cowl (singly or doubly), around the shoulders as a shawl, or buttoned with a twist to make an infinity scarf. Its reversible, with a different effect on the reverse side.
Aurora Australis appears to be a complex mix of multiple colours but is in fact a deceptively simple knit. The pattern consists of 4 rows of alternating stripes and no stranding is used. Two balls of gradient yarn and a simple tuck stitch pattern make for an enjoyable and rewarding knit. Full explanations are given for all tuck stitches, making it a good first tuck stitch project.
The featured garment was knitted in Freia Ombre Sport weight (2 balls) and measured 30 x 125 cm, but any gradient yarn can be used, such as Scheepjes Whirl or Scheepjes Whirl - Fine Art. The Scheepjes yarns come in large balls. One ball will be sufficient. Work from both ends of the same ball to achieve the same result.
