Product Details
This pattern comes from a booklet published by P&B in the 1950s. I still have the original pattern, which belonged to my great-aunt Joyce. Over the years, I have knitted many of these sweet jackets for family and friends.
Two different textured stitch patterns make up this garment, which is worked up in six separate pieces, and then sewn together when finished. The front ribbed edgings are made when working the fronts.
The original pattern is edited and brought up to date with US terminology. An additional size has been added.
The pattern has two sizes - 6-12 months and 12-18 months. The gauge for the larger size is 12 sts and 16 rows (stockinette) = 2 inches, using US 7 needles.
Two balls of 1.75 oz (50 g) yarn is generally enough to finish one sweater.
