Product Details

This shawlette can be made in any thickness of yarn and the size varied by the number of “points” in the border – this is made first, in a sideways band, and the top section, striped or in a single colour, is then picked up from the straight side of this band. The pattern is given in text and chart form, with photo tutorial on intarsia techniques. Three samples are given in the pattern to show the effects of using 10 ply worsted, 4 ply fingering and 2 ply lace-weight yarns. The 2 ply lace sample (very delicate and light – lovely as a neck scarf) used 40 gms 2 ply Malabrigo Lace and 10 gms silk wool mix on 3.25 (US 3) mm needles; 4 ply/fingering sample used 105 gms skein of Indigodragonfly MCN sock yarn plus 25 gms Malabrigo lace used double on 3.75 (US 5) mm needles; and the 10 ply worsted version (a warm shoulder wrap) used 165 gms Cascade Eco Alpaca plus 35 gms of the same yarn in a contrast colour on 4.5 (US 7) mm needles.
