This cowl was designed to make use of one of my first homespun yarns. I had roughly 180 metres of Bluefaced Leicester. Which is not a lot. So I was thinking of a cowl. To get the ultimate length out of it, I decided to work a slim scarf in a very lacey lace pattern. I got my inspiration from the many crocheted scarfs here on ravelry. I liked the way they look but wanted a knitted scarf. The stitch pattern I finally decided to use is very simple. It´s the Knot-Stitch Mesh which I discovered in A Second Treasury of Knitting Patterns by Barbara G. Walker. You cast on, work in pattern, bind off, sew the edges together and you are done. That´s all. A very quick project.
Another bonus is: To make this Blueprint - as I named the pattern - you can use any yarn you like from lace weight to chunky weight yarn. Only half a skein (50 g) of sock weight yarn and one skein (25 g) of lace weight yarn are enough to knit a cowl of similar dimensions! There´s no gauge and no swatching!
