It is designed for fingering yarn held double on a simple knit/purl pattern that a man will wear but not just ribbing for once. The pattern is reduced neatly on the crown for cool effect and to keep it interesting to knit.
Yarn choices Any wool or acrylic fingering yarn held double should be fine for this one. This gives a warm fabric with an attractive drape without a great deal of weight. You could also use a sportweight or DK yarn held single to achieve gauge. This will give a slightly sturdier although slightly less elegant fabric.
