This is the pattern for a buffalo appliqué.

I’ve used 4 ply cotton and a 1.25mm crochet hook but you can use different sizes depending on what you’re most comfortable with.
Black, grey and white crochet cotton or wool.
Crochet hook.
Scissors.
Thread and sewing needle to sew together.
A darning needle to weave in ends.
Black cotton to embroider on the nostrils.
Grey cotton to embroider on eyes.
