Product Details

Caim is an Old Gaelic word that means “protecting” or “encircling.” Celtic Christians believed that time was circular, with God at the center of it. From this belief, they developed the Caim prayer. This type of prayer is one where people form a circle around the person who needs protection and then recite simple requests to draw Good near and Evil afar.

Regardless of your religious beliefs, it is hard to deny the benefits of a warm hug or a simple touch. This fingering weight pi shawl is perfect for when you need to feel a comforting embrace. The lace motifs are all generally round, echoing Caim. The outermost lace pattern is also suggestive of arms stretching out to hold hands and encircle the body.

This pattern has been tech edited and test knit to ensure that the pattern is as clear, correct and consistent. However small details can still slip us by so if you have a pattern support question, send an email to fdanoy@arohaknits.com and we’ll get back to you within 24-48 hours.
