Product Details
This is a fairly simple knit, but as you will see from my photos you have lots of choices. Should you knit your bird in one, two or three colours? What about plain knit birds or Fair Isle? Should you make your sewing up stitches a feature of the design? Then you could embroider, or add beads or sequins? And finally you could make your bird into a hanging decoration, or make wire legs so it stands?
The patterns contains charts for my Fair Isle design, but I have also included some blank charts so you could have a go at designing your own Fair Isle pattern.
I have tried really hard to give the bird an elegant shape, although it is a comparatively easy knit, with just 3 pieces worked flat. The finished birds are 18cm long, from beak to tail.
I would love to see how your Christmas Birds turn out, so do link any projects to the pattern.
I am sure you will not be able to make just one bird, but will end up with a small flock of them.
