Note: The lace on this stole is charted only and the lace instructions are not written out.

This stole pattern explores the construction of the oval shape combined with gradually increasing lace to create a unique look. The picture that the lace creates in this construction was inspired by looking up and seeing the sky peek through the trees on a forest hike.

The fingering weight wool yarn used in the sample is hand dyed and subtly variegated. Almost any wool or wool-blend fingering weight yarn would work well in this project, which can be worn as a stole or a scarf.

This project begins with a crochet chain and the first round of stitches worked into the chain. Knitter will need to be able to work in the round using either two circular needles (recommended) or magic loop. The project is worked in the round from the center out using typical lace knitting stitches and twisted stitches. The lace changes almost constantly as the knitter works outward on the piece.
