Product Details

The intricate stranded colourwork design of these wristlets was inspired by the amazing colours of the climbing vine known as Virginia Creeper. In autumn, its leaves turn from green to a deep crimson, and dark blue berries peak out between the foliage.

The wristlets are quick and entertaining to knit and will use only 159–180 yards (145–165 m) of fingering-weight yarn overall. You need a solid colour for the leaf motif and a background colour with enough contrast (approx. 60 m each); in addition, that little leftover of variegated yarn from your last sock or shawl project will nicely accentuate the edges. The sample shows a pair of fraternal wristlets with slightly different designs, one worked in summer and one in autumn colours. The pattern also includes charts for the exact mirror images of the two main motifs.

The colourwork motifs are charted; there will be some longer floats that you need to catch on the wrong side of your knitting. Beads are added with a tiny crochet hook.
