Product Details

This slouch-style hat begins at the band with a twisted stitch ribbing and is knit in the round. The body of the hat is worked in intertwined “tree bark” twisted stitch patterns, and the crown is shaped with decreases interspersed with small lace leaf motifs.

The hat can be knit from a single skein of sock-weight yarn. Choose a semi-solid or tonal colorway to let all the stitch patterning show best.

Inspiration: From Greek mythology, dryads were tree nymphs or female tree spirits. Normally considered to be very shy creatures, except around the goddess Artemis, they inhabited trees and protected them. In some folklore, the dryads were integrally tied to their tree, such that, if the tree died, the dryad died along with it.

This pattern is also part of the 8-piece Legendary Knits, volume 3, collection.
