Product Details

Dyeing your own yarn is wonderful and addictive! Using food-safe dyes in your kitchen and coming up with your own colour schemes is fun, easy, and safe. But what to do with all your crazy-coloured little skeins?

This scarf pattern shows off several mini skeins of highly-variegated yarn, arranged in simple intarsia columns. Stockinette and garter-stitch sections vary the pooling effects of the yarn, and the chevron stitch pattern adds zap.

You will need approximately 600 yards of fingering-weight yarn. I made my scarf using six 100-yard skeins of undyed Skeinz Machine Washable Merino 4-ply, dyed with food colouring. Leftover sock yarn would work brilliantly too, in variegated or semi-solid shades.

Instructions for dyeing yarn with food colouring are included.

This scarf can easily be customised by varying the weight of yarn, the number of intarsia columns, and the length.

Pattern is for personal use only.
