Product Details

The Fibonacci sequence is a mathematical series of numbers: 0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21 and so on. The next number in the series is found by adding up the two numbers before it.

I used the series as the basis for this fun striped blanket design. The stripes are made up of two rows for each number in the series 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8 and 13. Using two colours the series can be read from the top or bottom of the blanket.

This is a great beginner knitting project using only knit and purl stitches for those wanting to learn to incorporate a second colour of yarn using the intarsia technique. The blanket is knit back and forth on a 4.5mm circular needle to accommodate the large number of stitches and uses DK/8ply/light worsted yarn creating a beautifully soft and snuggly baby blanket approximately 35”/89cm square.
