This worsted weight blanket is quite light due to the open cable panels with plenty of negative space between the ribs. The side panel charts are easily learned while the center panels keep it interesting. As a lap blanket, it is wide enough at 40" (102cm) for two people to cuddle under. When the weather is chilly, it's your perfect companion or an appreciated gift for a loved one. The Freydis blanket looks great on the back of the couch, the foot of the bed, or draped over a railing.
Ten or twelve 100gm skeins will be enough--it depends how long you want the blanket or maybe the height of the intended recipient. Much less yarn would be required for a baby blanket.
Any sturdy worsted weight yarn will do but a solid or heathered shade works best with cables. The cables have both charted and written instructions.
