Product Details

Frida Kahlo (1907-54) was a Mexican artist and activist who painted lots of self-portraits and has become a style icon. Her colourful paintings were influenced by the folk art and flora and fauna of her homeland.

The Frida doll is 27cm/10.5in tall and knitted in DK/light worsted yarn throughout. You will need 36m/39yd in beige for the head, body and arms - and smaller amounts in other colours for the legs, clothes and boots. Wool and wool mix yarns are better than acrylics - and please avoid 100% silk, linen, cotton and bamboo yarns. You will also need some thrift-store or old jewellery to make Frida's necklaces and earrings.

Please not that this isn't a super-quick project and would take me, a fairly experienced knitter, several hours to knit and put together.

The knitting itself is well within the scope of an intermediate knitter but you will need to be confident about sewing your work together and adding some of the small details.
