Product Details

The Good Grandpa Cardigan with pockets is slightly cropped, drop shoulder, deep v neck that buttons up at the front. It is a classic design with a modern twist. It will keep you cozy and in style during any season. It is designed to sit slightly longer than your waist line in length, but it can easily be made longer because it is constructed from the top down. First you will work the stitches for the back, after that you will work the right shoulder then the left shoulder as well as the front to shape the v neck and the armholes. A few videos are included in the pattern. The cardigan is worked flat and in the round (sleeves) in stockinette stitch and it is framed with the classic k1, p1 rib. 10 to 15 cm / 4” to 7” of positive ease is built in to the pattern, chose your size based on how much ease you prefer.

This cardigan pattern is written really well. It doesn’t assume that the knitter knows everything, and describes things in a sensible way. It is knit in a way I have never knitted a top down cardi…but there are a couple of linked videos that helped. My biggest issue is that there is no schematic of the pattern sizes. I truly rely on the drawing of the pattern to help me determine how long to make it. I am short and usually have to tailor my length for my size, so I’m having to try it on a lot decide when to stop in certain points. I am only about 1/3 of the way through, and hopefully, the rest will continue to make sense as I go.

It’s a beautiful pattern chosen by my granddaughter. I’m enjoying using it but for this British granny the American abbreviations are a bit of a challenge. I usual,y knit in the round and avoid seams but I have not used this method before so it’s good for my brain.
