Product Details
About this Design: Named for the national park on the western coast of Newfoundland, Gros Morne, which is the second largest national park in Canada.
This triangular shawl with centre panel is knit from bottom up. The edging brings to mind the horizontal branches of the coastal tuckamore pine trees while the body pattern was selected for its evocation of pine cones. The colour was selected to reflect the deep blue-greens of evergreen stands (white spruce and balsam fir trees) and the sprinkling of beads adds a slight shimmer.
The shawl highlights the luster and drape inherent in the longwool fibres of the Blue Faced Leicester fibre. If substituting yarn, select a wool blend that has contains silk to achieve the same amount of drape.
Yarn: 756 yards/692 meters of wool fingering weight yarn that knits up to 8 sts/inch.
