Product Details

On the Jewish festival of Purim, it’s traditional to eat delicious three-cornered cookies called hamantaschen, meant to resemble the three-cornered hat of Haman, the villain in the Purim story. I have fond memories of baking dozens of cookies, and I also can remember my mother singing a song that went “Hakova sheli shalosh pinot,” or “My hat has three corners.” When I first knit up the crown for this hat, I couldn’t help but see the resemblance—and I also promptly got the song stuck in my head.

Worked in basic brioche stitch until you get to the crown, this hat is a fun and quick knit that’s a great way to use a single skein of fingering weight yarn in your stash. The crown decreases are a bit fiddly but not difficult, making this a great beginner brioche project when you’re ready to do a bit of shaping.

This pattern has been test knit and professionally tech edited.
