Size: Adult, The length is easily adjustable
Yarn: Any fingering weight (approx. 400m/100g) yarn. The sample shown was knitted in Filcolana Arwetta colors Calendula (365), Black (102), Thistle flower (268), Snow white (100) This is the required yarn amount: approximately 40g/1.41oz. If you decide to make mittens larger, make sure to have extra yarn on hand.
Needles: 2mm/ US 0, or size needed to obtain gauge. The recommended needle size for fingering weight yarn is 2mm-3mm/ US 0-2.5 In the sample mittens, size 2.5 mm/US 1.5 needles were used for the colorwork and the thumb, and needle size 2mm/ US 0 for rows 50-61 and the ribbings.
Gauge: Stockinette stitch (stripes) on 2mm/US 0 needles: 17 stitches = 5 cm(approx. 2 in), colorwork on 2.5mm/US 1.5 needles: 17 stitches = 5 cm(approx. 2 in)
