Product Details

My final design in my "All the Jigs and Reels" series, the Hornpipe Bag is inspired by the hornpipe, which in Irish dancing is a hardshoe dance most often in 2/4 time.

I chose double-knitting for this reversible and seamless design featuring a knotwork motif on the base and all four sides of the bag. The base of the bag is worked first in rows. Then stitches are picked up, reversibly, around it and the sides are worked to the cast-off. To complete the bag two i-cords are knit and woven through the eyelet round to give the bag it's closure and straps.

This pattern includes directions for reversibily picking up stitches, forming the eyelets, and casting off as per the pattern photos. Also included are links to tutorials (photo and video) for casting on for double-knitting. Instructions on how to double-knit, however, are NOT included.

This pattern requires the use of charts to complete it.
