This beautiful crochet shawl makes a welcome extra layer to grab when the days turn cooler. Worked from the top downwards, we start gently with simple trebles for the main section which grows quickly. There’s then a pleasing change of rhythm with the leaf pattern border, followed by a V and Fan edging to provide the final flourish. This is a great project for intermediate crocheters who are confident with basic stitches and seek to develop their skills, or for more experienced crocheters who crave a cosy and relaxed make.

Techniques used:

Magic ring: wind yarn round index finger of left hand to form a ring, insert hook into ring, yarn round hook and pull through (1 loop on hook), 1 ch, (does not count as a stitch) work first round into ring (working over the twisted yarns), pull end tightly to close ring.

Double, treble and double treble stitches

Shell, fans & V stitches.
