Looking for a simple to knit, lightweight scarf for spring? Then look no further than the delightfully pretty Lady Thistledown.
This pattern has a very personal inspiration. Immediately after my Mum passed away, I needed something to focus on. I decided to design a pattern that captured her proud Scottish spirit with a penchant for knowing everyone's story. A chance sighting of a thistle tote bag gave me the design, and the pattern name...well, the play on words with a certain fictional social commentator was irresistible.
The pattern is an abstract lace-work thistle motif...Mum loved abstract ideas...surrounded by stocking stitch. The edge uses broken rib to keep it simple and clean. There are two versions of the scarf: fringed and non fringed and each end border is slightly different.
Simple and relaxing to knit, it's ideal for both beginners starting their lace-work journeys and more experienced knitters. I chose 4ply yarn as it's perfect for spring, but still cosy when needed.
