11/17/14 NOTE: After wearing the mittens for several days, I decided that the thumb was a tad too snug. Adding another stitch in the gap fixed the problem perfectly.

I'll update the pattern soon, but this is how to make a slightly bigger thumb:

After distributing stitches on three needles... Rnd 1: pick up 1 st in gap close to the first stitch, K13, pick up another stitch in gap close to the last stitch. Make sure you distribute 5 stitches per needle.

Knit until middle of thumbnail, then ON EACH NEEDLE, knit to last two stitches, K2tog.
