Product Details
Knit this fun beanie in the round using a simple but pure magic technique to join the sections that gives a perfect intarsia join between the rows. There is no sewing, no wrapped or crossed stitches and when complete it is difficult to pick which join is actually the seam.
Each section has a simple textured pattern using only knit and purl sts, but you can work the beanie in stocking stitch if you prefer.
Instructions for the loop and drop intarsia join are included with photos for each step.
My beanie is knitted in 7 shades of Rowan Lima, which is sadly now discontinued, however you can use any aran yarn with a tension of 20 sts & 26 rows to 10cm. Use a wool based yarn as beanies need to be stretchy. I have suggested some colours in Berroco Ultra Alpaca which will give you a similar colour beanie.
Instructions are given for 3 sizes, to fit head sizes 48cm, 54cm and 60cm.
This project would best suit an intermediate or advanced knitter familiar with both intarsia and circular knitting.
