Product Details
This is a pattern for a knit shawl that features both an Estonian focal stitch and a Shetland edging stitch. The focal stitch is one of the many beautiful gathered stitches that come to us from Estonia. The edging, unlike many Estonian shawls, (in which you knit the edging separately, and then sew it to the shawl) is knit on in the manner more familar to many of us. The edging stitch is one of the lacy and traditional Shetland edgings. The combination of the two stitches makes for a very pretty and unusual lace shawl.
Skill Level: Intermediate - Intermediate + (assuming a basic knowledge of lace knitting).
The pattern for all the stitches are both charted and written out line by line.
Any heavy fingering weight yarn that yields 4.25 sts/inch on size (U.S.) #6/4.00mm needles in lace stitch will work for this shawl.
