Product Details

Mo Nighean Donn, pronounced moh-nee-uhn-down, is Gaelic and means “my beautiful brown one”. And - if you're an Outlander fan like me - it's one of Jamie's nicknames for his Claire.

I got the inspiration for this scarf from Claire (Catriona Balfe) herself. In the last episode of season 6, of Starz Network’s Outlander television serie, she stands in front of the fireplace wearing a similar shawl.

Easy to knit little cables are forming this special dimensional pattern.

My Mo Nighean Donn is 1.50m width (all three sides).

Yarn: Rowan Moordale, DK yarn (8ply, 11wpi), I needed approx. 1255 yards (5-6 strands)

Gauge: 30 rows and 23 sts = 4” (10 cm) square in stockinette stitch

Gauge is not crucial for this project, but variations will affect yardage and final measurements.

The pattern includes both written and charted instructions so you can choose which you prefer to work from.
