A fundraiser version of the PDF download can be [purchased for $5.50][2], with $4.50 of the purchase going to [Knitters Without Borders][3]. The free version and the fundraiser version are identical as of 02 October 2012. Both versions include a chart and tutorial for the stitch pattern. Knit in one piece. Sides are worked flat on a circular needle (you can also work back and forth on dpns) and the base is knit from the outside in on dpns. No cable needle required! The stitch pattern looks more complicated than it really is. A step-by-step photo [tutorial for row 4 of the Smocking Stitch][4] is available on MK's Flickr page as well as a PDF included with the pattern.
